The Twelve Days of Christmas
We hear about the twelve days of Christmas in the popular carol about the gifts of the twelve days of Christmas, but did you know that the twelve days are shaped by Christian events throughout?
The beginning of the twelve days of Christmas is Christmas day, December 25th, the celebration of the birth of Jesus.
The day after Christmas, Deccember 26th, is a day to remember the faith of St. Stephen, the first Christian
martyr. You can read about him in Acts 6 & 7.
December 27th is a day to remember St. John, one of the disciples who shared his faith with the world by writing the books of John, 1,2,&3 John, and Revelation.
On December 28th, we remember the holy innocents, the children who were killed by Herod trying to slay the king of the Jews as recorded in Matthew 2.
January 1, the eighth day after Jesus' birth, is the day that we recall the naming & circumcision of Jesus, fulfilling the law for us and making Jesus a Jew. Read about it in Luke 2.
Finally, Christmas ends with the festival of Epiphany on January 6th. This remembers the coming of the Wise Men as recorded in Matthew 2 and in many parts of the world is celebrated as Christmas because it was the first time Gentiles (non-Jews), saw Jesus.
In Christ,
CDE Anne Gonzalez

China Mission Trip
Our congregation, in voter's assembly recentlyapproved moving foward with a 2011 mission trip to China for adults. We will be using our skills as native English speakers to share the good news of Jesus.
If you have an interest in being a part of this-team by sending (by prayer, contributions, and encouraging others to go), please begin by praying for the right people and wisdom.
This awesome opportunity will help adults in our congregation to grow in faith, learn to share their faith, and strengthen" our congregation's mission.
If you have interest in being a part of this team by going, please come to a meeting on Thursday, January 7th at 6:30 pm. We will study God's word on missions, pray, and talk about the practical details
