News About Deaf Ministry
The following is reprinted from the most recent issue of the South Wisconsin Deaf Lutheran Newsletter, Holding Hands:
Clarification of two issues
There is a belief that so many members about our church's future are vague about two issues or may not understand fully what is happening.
A. What will happen to churches for the deaf in Wisconsin?
1. Fact: the Southwest District is having some money problems so they have to layoff missionary at large (17) by the end of this year. Rev. Reinke and Rev.
Palmer will be with us till December. Then what happens? .
2. Rev. Rynearson, a very well known and highly respected pastor was kind enough to come out and help out. He has been working hard to set up an organization with an idea that it will help churches. The organization is called Lutheran Deaf Mission Society, and it has a board, and then under it there are chapters. Right now the board is working hard to support the organization and also programs for the deaf, Rev. Rynearson is awaiting to hear from the IRS, before he and the board can ask for funding from many sources. We will need to work hard to pay our pastors and ask people to help us support Deaf Ministry.
B. What should we do after the district let our pastors go in December 2009?
1. We are having ministry planning meetings once every month. Why? To help us grow in our ministry work. Some members can become leaders, lay readers, or workers. Several may become deacons or deaconess. That is why the pastors are working hard to help us become better workers for the church. The pastors have confidence that we can help out in our churches. You may notice that there are several different groups called Deaf Lites, PAH, or DIT, the reason for them is to help us understand better what we need to do after the pastors leave.
2. there is hope that the LDMS will be able to raise lots of mney but it takes a lot of time to do this.
3. Even though our pastors may not be with us on a regular basis, we still need to support our churches with our offerings.
Re. Rynearson was asked what we, members should do in the meantime.

Thank you to those who have responded to the call for support of our local deaf ministry. Your assistance will help our deaf brothers and sisters in Christ get the training they need to be equipped for direct Christian witness. Please keep Pastors Reinke, Palmer, and Rev. Rodney Rynearson in your prayers as they seek the Lord for creative ways to accomplish His work.
