News from Deaf LaCrosse Lutheran Church (a ministry of Shepherd of the Hills)
Our deaf brothers and sisters in Christ are now meeting 'weekly on Sundays. Most Sundays they are here from at least 9:1S-11:1sam on Sunday morning, in the back half of the Fellowship Room. They share the Fellowship Room with our 7/8th Grade Sunday School class .... both groups are accommodating toward the others with whom they share. The weekly meeting is mostly Bible study, led by Mike Lewis.
Once a month they still have worship and teaching with Pastor John Reinke. The schedule for their time with Pastor Reinke is a little less predictable, as he has a demanding travel schedule and also spends more time with his home parish now.
Some of the deaf group are already confirmed Lutherans, and we will be seeing them in church with us at least one Sunday a month for Communion. It was a surprise for us to learn that some of them had not had the opportunity to take Communion since joining Deaf LaCrosse! We are grateful to Colleen Cudo for volunteering to interpret worship on those "first" Sundays each month.
Please pray for our deaf friends, some of whom are looking for employment. It can be even more difficult for them to find jobs than it is for others, due to communication issues.
