LWML Notes
The recent Women's Salad Supper and Ultimate Makeover night was a big success! Some came for the fellowship; some came for the "faith lift"; some may have come hoping to see Judy Williams in another daring outfit; but everyone had a good time being there. Thank you, Kay Conzemius and Lee Fricke, for arranging for the program. Thank you to Judy for your creative promotional skit; and thanks to Lisa Kerr for coordinating the salad buffet. With just a little encouragement from the women, we may consider having another supper next year!
Ladies: Come to our Bible study on September 11th! Pastor Stein will lead us in study. It is going to be taken from The Best is Yet to Come, the book which has been recommended by him and the Stewardship Chairman for the congregation to read. Expect a personal challenge! Please remember to bring your mite box or a contribution for mission grants, if you can. We haven't had an opportunity to collect mission money for a few months, and there are district grants waiting to be paid.
It's not too early to begin crafting donations to be sold at the annual LWML Craft & Bake Sale, which will be held the weekend of October 9"10. We welcome donations of crafted items and baked goods from anyone in the congregation; the proceeds from this will be given to our District Lutheran Deaf Mission Society to support the salaries of Pastors Reinke and Palmer. The Lutheran Deaf Mission Society needs to raise about $130,000 for the 2010-2011 year, in addition to grants already promised.
The circuit/zone's Fall Rally takes us out to Immanuel - Adams on October 2nd. This is exciting, because Immanuel has recently re-chartered its LWML after quite a few years of being defunct. Make plans to carpool with us for a morning of Bible study, inspiration, news and fellowship. The program ends just before we enjoy lunch together.
A few weeks after that, we are all invited out to the LWML Fall Retreat in Manitowoc, WI. The speakers for this retreat will be some of the recipients of the Mission Grant monies that were voted upon at the LWML Convention in June. The dates are October 15"16
