SHEPHERD OF THE HILLS LUTHERAN WOMEN
NOTES FROM LWML
June 2011
It is said that the Church is always one generation from extinction; yet God has said "I will leave a witness ... " But who is that witness? [look in the mirror!]
We are not here just for our own edification. Our love and commitment to Christ is lived out through our lives and the use of our time for Him. And it begins with our own need to spend time alone with our Lord-reading scripture, praying, and asking Him for guidance in our daily life. Then His light will shine through us, making us the kind of people whose lives point to God.
At the upcoming national convention of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWMl), we will have the opportunity to witness to God's love by supplying some basic necessities to those who have undergone various disasters. You can help even if you are not in LWMl, or not planning to go to the Convention. Those who are going will take our Gifts From the Heart for us.
In the narthex you will find a purple box with a list of the things that are needed .... they include things like unopened packages of underwear (any size and either sex), sets of towels, socks, children's Arch books, and other items. You may also go online to get a more complete guide for donations: www.lwm1.org Under the sidebar of News Releases, click on "LWML Women to 'Stuff the Truck' at Convention". The deadline for our travelers to pack the items is June 21st. Thank you.
